Introducing Scout, Guidewheel’s AI-powered predictive maintenance solution

Today, we’re thrilled to share that Scout is now available to all Guidewheel customers!

Scout is a powerful new tool that enhances your ability to detect issues and predict maintenance needs within Guidewheel. This proactive approach not only boosts your operational efficiency but also extends the health and lifespan of your machinery.

Scout will help you detect issues before they lead to:

  • Preventable downtime

  • Unforeseen maintenance

  • Shortened equipment lifespan

  • Quality defects and scrap

  • Catastrophic failure

Ready to learn more? Here are three ways that Scout can help you become more proactive on the plant floor and get ahead of issues before they impact production.

How Scout will help your team become more efficient

Head off machine downtime or failure before it occurs

Machine failures are rare but when they occur, they can cripple production and saddle you with expensive repairs or replacement costs you hadn’t forecast.

Scout gives you early warnings about minor irregularities before they spiral into costly downtime or failures.

Using AI, Scout monitors granular detail about machine performance to detect small changes that are often early indicators of a potential failure.

You can set up Scout so your team is alerted as soon as a change is detected, which will serve as an early warning system and give them time to correct the issue before a failure occurs. And the more data it processes, the more powerful it becomes at predicting the issues you need to know about.

A critical motor began to show small signs of deviating from the standard. Scout alerted the team, who quickly identified a problem with the controller. A temporary fix was performed, and the team used Scout to verify the machine was stable until a permanent fix could be performed.

Impact: Scout prevented two major machine breakdowns, >20 hours of unplanned downtime and thousands of dollars in lost production.

Maintain unwavering quality in your plant

Quality defects can lead to scrapped product, rework, and customer dissatisfaction if bad parts aren’t caught in time. To help you maintain quality standards, Scout vigilantly patrols your machine data, and is on the lookout for any small variations in machine performance that can lead to quality defects, so you can correct issues immediately.

Scout’s attentiveness is important because it will give you an early warning of a potential issue with a machine, alerting you as soon as it detects a small sign of abnormality so you can take action to address it.

What this really means is Scout will put you in a proactive position to address the issue before it develops into a full-blown problem with the machine and impacts quality or causes unnecessary downtime.

Scout detected an electrical short in a chiller, and alerted the team in time to fix the circuit before it caused downtime or quality issues.

Impact: Prevented failure of critical auxiliary equipment, preventing downtime across the plant.

Optimize your maintenance routines

Scout also unearths insights around key performance factors, like mean time between failures, equipping you to implement optimized processes and maintenance strategies guided by data.

Within Guidewheel Scout, you’ll be able to see exactly when anomalies are occurring and address those issues with your team so they don’t snowball into larger, more catastrophic issues.

When you set up Scout alerts for your maintenance team, you’ll be able to regularly review the anomaly data in meetings to identify which machines have a lot of anomalies and see trends emerging from your data. Then, you’ll be able to use this data to update maintenance schedules and stay ahead of future issues.

With these more optimized processes and maintenance strategies, you’ll be able to prevent lost productivity, reduce maintenance costs, and extend the lifespan of your equipment.

Start using Scout today

Scout can be turned on for any Guidewheel-connected machine. It’s easy to get started since Scout integrates into the workflows your team is using today.
