Using Safi for Remote Factory Management During the Pandemic
Customers have shared ways they are using Safi to keep their team safe and maintain high-quality operations during the pandemic, so we are compiling best practices here for others to benefit (and summarizing in a video, below). If you’d like more details or support implementing any of these, you can reach out to us at info@safi.ai.
Use Safi to manage from a distance. Maintaining social distance is an important health measure right now. Safi’s real-time monitoring - plus the new features we have recently created to enable remote management - can help teammates keep a safe distance.
Monitor operations in real-time, from home or office, rather than walking on the factory floor. With visibility into exactly what’s going on in the factory via smartphone or laptop (now including both machines and activities), you can call at the right time, have informed conversations with staff via phone, and continue to make the right decisions at the right time from afar.
Alerts are especially helpful now. Real-time SMS alerts for idle time, excessive changeover time, machine problems, and team comments/actions (new feature) help you respond immediately to problems. The SMS alert also links to the details in the system so you can make the right decision from afar.
Shared source of truth. Referencing Safi as a shared source of truth makes phone meetings or calls less frustrating. In remote meetings, managers can simultaneously view the shared record of what happened on the factory floor to reduce confusion and focus on next steps.
Eliminate pen and paper to reduce risk of infection.
Safi has already helped dozens of factories shift away from pen and paper throughout their operations, from digitizing job cards to production tracking. We recently added new features to make job card digitization even easier.
We’re happy to jump on a call with you or your team, learn more about the specific paper system you’re hoping to eliminate, and find a way to make it work within your Safi system (this service is included with your existing Safi system, no cost).
Track when critical tasks - such as sanitization - are completed, without the infection risk of pen and paper.
You can now be notified immediately by SMS when your team creates a new Issue in the system (new feature). This lets you monitor team activities remotely via a quick glance at your phone to ensure critical actions have been completed.
Replacing paper job cards is one way customers have already used this feature, and it can be used for sanitization or other health measures as well.
Any changes/updates to tasks and issues in the system are also tracked and time-stamped so you can monitor at a glance.
Remotely track and closely manage the impact of operational changes.
Safi can help track any impact on production or quality in real-time as you make changes to protect your team’s health - staggering shift start times or breaks, having fewer operators on the floor, etc.
Ensure machines continue to be used correctly despite operational changes. For example, if you have operators filling in for others or working with more machines, you can use Safi to ensure correct settings are still being used.
